I traveled through Alterac Valley, helping the Stormpike Guard, hoping to win further allies to travel to Northrend with me, but despite my best attempts those battles raged on. I journeyed through what had been Lordaeron, now called the Plaguelands. Along with a band of heroes I came across Tirion Fordring, living as a hermit. In return for his aid we tried to win his son free from the influence of the Scarlet Crusade. To my great shame I could not save the young man... to this day I suspect Tirion has not forgiven me.

As Tirion gathered what Knights of the Silver Hand he could find... eventually joining them together with the Argent Dawn to form the Argent Crusade, I journeyed to Outland, hoping to convince Danath Trollbane to return. One of the Alliance’s greatest heroes I was certain he and the heroes who had held Honor Hold for so long would turn the tide in Northrend, but Trollbane remained at his post, in spite of my most earnest attempts to bring the man home. So, with fewer allies than I would have hoped, I boarded a boat from Menethil Harbor and crossed the Great Sea. I helped Tirion secure the landing the Crusade had carved at Valgarde, then circled around the island to Valiance Keep. I fought my way across the Tundra and through the Dragonblight. At Wintergarde Keep I looked in vain for Tirion before heading north to Fordragon Hold. In what should have been the Alliance’s greatest moment, Tirion’s absence allowed the Forsaken to ambush Bolvar, sacrificing their allies in the Horde to unleash their plague upon the Alliance and the Lich King.... That day is too painful for me to linger on.

I learned later that Fordring’s forces had diverted up through Zul’Drak, leaving only a token force at Light’s Trust, instead of pushing on to join with the Alliance forces. Despite my anger at what I felt was a betrayal... Tirion’s search to reclaim his own lost glory, marching through Crystalsong Forest, and into Icecrown, instead of joining the fight in Dragonblight, I fought at the Argent Vanguard, manning the cannons as swarms of undead rushed the fortress. I helped claim Crusader’s Pinnacle. I fought with the Argent Crusade and the Ebon Blade all across Icecrown. Scouring the Storm Peaks for resources I met up with a familiar face, long thought forgotten. I was there when Muradin Bronzebeard’s memory returned, and the bravest dwarf of our age joined the fight against Arthas.

Finally I, along with the other victors at Tirion’s self-aggrandizing tournament, followed Jaina into Icecrown Citadel. I saw Uther’s spirit, and heard it warn Jaina what she should have already known... that the Arthas she remembered was long gone, only the Lich King remained. I do not need to recount what happened next... we fought through Arthas’s citadel, and there Tirion, too many other heroes to name them all, and myself struck the Lich King down. As we stood over Arthas’s body I prayed to the Light that my travels would end soon, that I could reclaim my family’s home outside of Andorhal, and live a normal life...
I'm totally pulling a noob moment here and can't figure out how to get my spreadsheet to insert itself into blogger all nice and pretty looking, so I'm going to give you guys the link to the google doc for my Mists of Pandaria Pre-Raid Gear List (For Tanks!). I included heroic dungeon gear, JP gear, VP gear (since you can earn VP without raiding), and crafted gear. I did not include crafted gear that requires raid obtained mats to craft. I did not include quest blues (because I am not as awesome as Vidyala).
As troublesome dreams plague the paladin in the wake of Horde assault on Theramore, Orv begins to record his memoirs.

Since the destruction of Theramore my sleep has been troubled. I’ve been dreaming of days long gone by, of the destruction of another city. Somehow the two feel similar, the feeling that everything we know is about to change again. Last night I dreamt of watching Arthas outside of Stratholme... Light was it only 12 years ago? I remember it as clearly as if it were yesterday, but it feels like a lifetime ago. I was full of anger at Arthas. I wanted Uther to put the young prince in his place. We are Paladins, Champions of the Light. It is a sacred calling. It can be a heavy burden but it is our burden to carry. The citizens of Stratholme deserved our best, and Uther was our best. Could Uther have wielded the light to cleanse the plague before it claimed their lives? Could Uther and Arthas and all of us gathered there that day struck down Mal’Ganis before he could flee to Northrend? These bleak thoughts and the change I fear is coming make me feel weary. If change is coming, if we face dangers yet unseen, as we did after Stratholme, I know I the Light calls me to stand as a shield for the good people of the Alliance. I wish this burden would fall upon younger shoulders, but unlike Arthas, I know it is my burden to carry. I never wanted to be a hero, perhaps a strange thing for a paladin to say. The Light called me, I knew there could be no other path, but I never expected to lead me where I am today. In a way, Stratholme was where that path started.

After Uther could see that I was troubled when he led us away from the city. I confessed that I had wanted to strike Arthas down, that I had wanted to see Uther strike him down. For the first time in my life my loyalties felt divided. Was I a paladin first or a citizen of Lordaeron? Did my duty to my Prince supersede my duty to the Light? I needed time to answer that question and so Uther sent me to Ironforge. I had hoped to find Muradin there, he had seemed so level-headed when I met him in Lordaeron, but he was gone to Northrend, investigating what we came to know as the Scourge, and would not be heard from again until we found him in the Storm Peaks, years down the road. So it came that I was far from home when Arthas returned as a Death Knight. I did not see him strike down his father. I sat safe and comfortable in Ironforge, sharing a drink with the fine dwarven paladins in the Mystic Ward or practicing my craft as an armorsmith. Word was slow to reach us there, and when it did I was far too late to help my homeland.

I spent years with the dwarves before traveling to Stormwind. There was trouble in Elwynn Forest and Westfall with the Defias... trouble with the scourge in Duskwood, orcs in Redridge. Bolvar was doing his best to keep order in the kingdom, but Stormwind needed its king. I travelled to Theramore, following up on leads that the Defias in Westfall and the Stockades beneath Stormwind had dropped, but hit a dead end there. So I returned to Ironforge to work on my craft, occasionally helping out at with the fighting across Thandol Span, and throughout Arathi. Stromgarde had been staunch allies of Lordaeron once, and it pained me to see the kingdom in such a state. I felt like I was doing good work, but never as though I were a hero. Just one more small cog in the wheel.

Lady Prestor was revealed as Onyxia and chased from Stormwind. King Varian returned. The Dark Portal was re-opened and I couldn’t have been less involved in any of it. I was happy where I was, trying to make a small difference day by day. News flowed back slowly over the next year... Illidan hunted down and killed. Kil’jaeden’s plan foiled, the Sunwell reignited. All good news, but nothing that convinced me to alter my simple life. Perhaps I am being too sentimental here, it is true that I was never fully content. I wanted something more... more meaningful, but I trusted the Light would guide my path. So I crafted armor, and I chased orcs and trolls around Arathi, and I tried to ignore the pain of a lost home.

Then came the Scourge sweeping down from the North. The call went out for brave souls to travel to Northrend and prepare to face the Lich King and it was as though a fire was lit within me....

The paladin closes his journal as a message arrives to tell him that Varian Wrynn is calling for adventurers for a special mission...something to do with the presence of the Skybreaker above Stormwind Harbor. He packs the journal back into his bags, trusting that he will find time to continue his story.Orvhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04957977247403954187noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3438520024263354776.post-6944495185867631002012-09-16T21:07:00.000-04:002012-09-16T21:11:00.743-04:00Eff the Ineffable Wants YOU!Eff the Ineffable is a casual 10 man raiding guild on Azuremyst. It's a pretty cool guild and has some awesome members. If that sounds like a guild you might like, read the rest of this post!

In case you don't hang on every tweet Nymphy and I send out Eff the Ineffable is recruiting for MoP. We have enough hybrid classes that we can accommodate pretty much anyone, but we are particularly looking for players who can tank or heal (or both!).

EtI raids Friday and Saturday nights from 9:30 to 12:30 Eastern. In Cata we had full clears of T11 Normal. We had some problems during T12 and ended only 6/7N. We rallied from there and ended T13 2/8 Heroic. We would like to see some more heroic modes in MoP but full clear heroics has not been a priority of ours. EtI was formed as a place for grown up types who are serious about raiding, but have busy schedules and can't commit to a heavier raiding schedule, because of that we have no minimum attendance requirement. We use a percent based rostering system where any week that we have more than ten sign ups for a given night the raider who has sat out the lowest percent of their sign ups will sit that week. We do main spec/ off spec rolls for loot.
Her UI wasn't as broken as she feared! Yay for quick addon updates, she salutes the addon writers for being super prepared! 2.) Uhhh, her spec however, WAS broken, and broken beyond repair.

(Important Note for the Reading Impaired: Arcane mana regen has totally been fixed. For an actual Arcane mage guide please see the link at the bottom of the post.)

So! Here is my super handy guide for surviving as an arcane mage until Mists of Pandaria is released in a month.

1.) Run to the target dummies or perhaps even a heroic dungeon to test out new rotation.

2.) Immediately commence QQ because OMG MANA?! WHERE DID IT GO?!!!

3.) Realize that you don't get your major mana regeneration talent until level 90.

4.) Respec into Frost as right now there is simply no way you can sustain an arcane rotation on the fixed mana pool without mana regen.

5.) REFORGE ALL THE THINGS! Then QQ when you realize that you have to reforge ALL that lovely, sexy mastery into...<sigh> haste.
5a.) Then REGEM ALL THE THINGS! (Not really ALL the things, just like 4 gems for me)
5b) REGLYPH ALL THE THINGS!!!!

6.) Go searching for a Frost guide to help you figure out what the hell to do. Find one and slowly figure out a rotation.

7.) Organize your casting bars so they seem to look like they make sense.

8.) Grab a group of your guildies and convince them to accompany you to a Hour of Twilight heroic and eye your Water Elemental suspiciously. (PET BAR?! Uhh, I guess I put him on assist and leave it right?)

9.) Realize with a sinking heart that you can't go back to arcane until level 90 and you might as well get used to playing another spec that you do, hey, actually halfway decent DPS on surprisingly!

10.) Still countdown the month until you can respec Arcane though!

Frost isn't that bad to be honest <gasp!> But Arcane is where my heart stays and lives and it is where I have found the most enjoyment in playing my mage. I look forward to the Day of Pandas when I can level and respec back into it, but for now I am enjoying playing around with something new.

So hopefully you didn't come here looking for a REAL arcane mage guide for the latest patch, because I am not a huge theorycrafter and you should go here instead. If you did, then I apologize. This "guide" was meant to be a humorous, QQ, mage thing instead of a real thing. Please go to the linked guide, they have super helpful information in an easy to read format. And if you want to L2FrostMage(Nub) then go read Jed's excellent post here.Nymphyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03797541203329264799noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3438520024263354776.post-14468602592362962982012-08-28T14:10:00.002-04:002012-08-31T19:52:13.611-04:00Patch 5.0.4 Protection Paladin TalentsOrv is a prot pally who, while avoiding doing too much questing in the beta, has been running dungeons the last few months so he can be ready when the new patch drops.

Happy Patch Day! This isn't intended to be a complete guide for playing a pally post patch 5.04, just an update to my previous talent guide. If you want a more comprehensive overview Rhidach has a much more in depth post up over here. If you're more the hard numbers type Theck has been breaking down our stat priorities the past few weeks.

Talents:
My last talent post broke down the choices a protection paladin faced while leveling in Cata. In MoP most of what had previously been talent choices are now selected automatically when you choose your specialization. Talents are now chosen every 15 levels, which each tier of talents revolving around a certain theme. One important difference from previous talent choice design is that it is difficult to pick a “wrong” talent. There may be one choice that is superior to the others, but making the “wrong” talent choice in MoP is not going to be as damaging to your overall success. Many of the talent choices are situational, and you should feel comfortable making your choice based on your personal play-style or the preferences of your co-tank or healers. Talents may be swapped out between fights as well, allowing you to change up your “spec” to optimize for a particular encounter.

Tier 1 (Level 15)
The paladin tier one talents focus on mobility.

Speed of Light is a flat 70% speed boost with an 8 second duration on a 45 second CD. Finally paladins have a meaningful gap closer. This will probably be my choice for most encounters.

Long Arm of the Law gives a 45% speed boost every time you judge. This is currently available as a ret talent and there are a few encounters (Spine, transitions on Madness) where I would love to have this talent while tanking.

Pursuit of Justice- Base 15% movement speed increase with an extra 5% for each charge of holy power (up to 3) the pally is holding. This will probably be my choice when soloing.

Tier 2 (Level 30)
Tier two talents are our “crowd control” section.

Fist of Justice is like Hammer of Justice on steroids. When I’m PvPing I will probably roll with this choice.

Repentance is currently available to our retribution specced brothers and sisters, and I miss it on those odd raid weeks where we are light on CC. This will almost certainly be my choice for dungeons and raids. Its CD is vastly reduced from Cata, bringing it more in line with other classes CC.

Burden of Guilt is situational, and probably more useful in PvP than PvE.

Tier 3 (Level 45)
Tier 3 is a healing/mitigation tier, and probably my favorite in the whole tree.

Selfless Healer is a probably the weakest choice. A free flash of light every 3 judgments (buffed if cast on someone else) isn’t bad, it just isn’t as strong as the other choices.

Eternal Flame replaces Word of Glory. It is<strike> a stronger version of </strike>(edit: Theck has kindly pointed out that the tooltip on Word of Glory is wrong. Eternal Flame is just WoG with a HoT. Currently the buff from SotR does not buff the HoT so it does not scale with Mastery.) Word of Glory with a HoT. I’ve read that it is impacted by our Mastery the same as WoG which makes this an attractive talent. I’m still going to go with...

Sacred Shield: 30 second duration on a 6 second CD, Sacred Shield gives you a bubble (roughly) equal to your spell power. Since our spell power is derived from our attack power which more than ever is impacted by vengeance, Sacred Shield looks to be an incredibly useful mitigation tool. Also I’ve missed it all Cata long.

Tier 4 (Level 60)
I think of this as the “Hands” tier.

Hand of Purity is a new Hand spell which reduces DoT damage on the target. I will LOVE THIS in PvP and I think it is a solid choice for Holy Pallys in general.

Unbreakable Spirit will probably be my choice for MoP as it will reduce the cooldown on three different CDs when I spend holy power. More uptime on commonly used CDs is wonderful and the chance to get Lay on Hands off twice in a fight is pretty special.

Clemency allows a paladin to use each of their “Hand” spells twice before triggering the cooldown. This feels like another talent that is more useful for PvP or healers (or even Ret pallies who do more than hump meters).

Tier 5 (Level 75)
Tier 5 is the Holy Power tier.

Holy Avenger is very similar to the ret pally cooldown Zealotry. Every 2 minutes CS/HotR will generate 3 charges of holy power. This would provide constant mitigation from SotR and quickly stack the Bastion of Glory buff to WoG for the 18 seconds it is active. This will be a great choice for fights that have a burst damage component. (Even if it is magical burst damage this will smooth your incoming physical damage and quickly buff WoG to let you help with your healing.)

Sanctified Wrath increases the duration of your Wings and cuts the CD of Judgment in half while wings are popped, as well as buffing healing received. Since Judgment is a Holy Power generator now this also means faster HP generation. (Edit: If you read the comments you will see that Theck has also pointed out Sanctified Wrath is the DPS winner among these three choices. My choice of Holy Avenger is, in large part, a matter of my comfort with the Zealotry buff, and my experience using that talent in the beta, not a matter of hard numerical research.)

Divine Purpose is another variation of a current Ret pally ability. Powers that consume HP have a 25% chance to give you a free 3 HP cast of any HP consuming ability. Currently I’m leaning towards Holy Avenger as my choice but I know DP can have an impact on the damage smoothing in a hit/expertise/mastery build, and I will likely check out DP at some point for comparison purposes.

Tier 6 (Level 90)
These talents are not available until MoP drops (obviously).

Holy Prism: Is an interesting ability. You blast a target with a beam of light. If it is an enemy they take damage and radiate healing to nearby allies. If it is an ally they take healing and radiate damage to nearby enemies.

Light’s Hammer creates a 10 yard AoE zone that damages enemies and heals allies.

Execution Sentence is basically a Holy DoT that ramps up until expiring in a burst of damage. It can also be cast on an ally to provide healing. This is the choice that I am currently leaning towards the most, though I expect to swap this one out fairly often.

Glyphs:

In my Cata tanking post I didn’t address glyphs, but I’ve had enough people ask (either in person or in the comments) about glyph choices that I think it is worth including a section on them here. In Cata I was a big proponent of swapping out your glyphs from fight to fight (as were most pally tanks, given how many of our glyphs were situational). This is even more true in MoP. My first reaction to checking out our MoP glyph selection was that I didn’t see much that I would consider a “must have.” This isn’t a bad thing. Unless you’re looking for someone to map out the very best glyphs for you . If that’s what you’re here for my advice to you is that you look over each glyph, consider the enemies you’ll be facing, and make the best choices you can with what you know. Don’t be afraid to play around with your set up.

As always please feel free to drop any questions in the comments and I'll do my best to answer them.

*Note: In my last talent guide I included links to all of the talents. At this time wowhead has not switched over from Cata to MoP talents so I am holding off on inserting the links for a few days.Orvhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04957977247403954187noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3438520024263354776.post-22700676228047393492012-08-10T02:15:00.000-04:002012-08-10T02:15:00.137-04:00A Fond, Temporary FarewellThis is not the post I expected to be writing in the middle of the night, and certainly not the post that I wanted to ever write at all. But somehow, the guilt and the feeling that I am somehow letting people down, or upsetting them has to be overcome for the sake of mental health. This is not a humorous post, so if you have come here to find something funny, I am sorry to disappoint. This is #RealTalk and something excruciatingly hard and difficult to discuss.

Hi, my name is Nymphy and I suffer from severe social anxiety, depression, and generalized anxiety disorder. No one, except maybe Orv and a few other people that I am miraculously close to, has experienced what is inside my head on a daily basis. It is an effort to be funny and personable and outgoing on various social media platforms on a day to day basis. It wasn't all caused by today, but today was the breaking point. I am not blaming anyone either, but due to the pressures of being happy all the time combined with real life drama, stresses, and all around wear and tear on my emotional stability and I thisclose to having a nervous breakdown. The stress is a killer and for the sake of my own health, and #Lockling's, I am stepping away from all social interactions for the forseeable future. So I am putting down Twitter, Facebook, and WoW, walking away, and taking a break. I may pop into WoW for only 2 hours for the next couple Sunday's to help BBB finish helping his Cub get his 25 man ICC meta-achievements done for the drake just because I have already made that commitment, otherwise I am going to be silent. This blog will still continue to be written, if only by Orv for awhile, he will also be assuming the mantle of GM for Eff the Ineffable until I return.

To all the lovely nice people on Twitter, thank you for being who you are. I know all the people I talk to may not be friendly with each other, but each and every one of you has been a shining point and a source of smiles to me everyday. To say that I feel immeasureable guilt for doing something that I shouldn't even think twice about is awful and just a mark of how unstable I am at this point. If I thought I could bear it by simply talking to a person, I know that I could pick any one of you and you would be glad to listen and I appreciate that more than you could ever know.

As an ending, this post was not made for attention. I am not bemoaning anything or saying woe is me. Anyone who really knows me, knows this to be true. I am not an attention seeker. This is simply so Orv does not have the burden of answering/explaining my absence to those of you who may ask. This is so I can regain a more stable grasp on my mental health and standing so I can return to being the cheerful, lovable person you know me to be.
As GM, the actions of your guildies reflect on you, and the culture you’re trying to build. Last night one of my guildies was rude and abrasive to another blogger when whispered.

When this situation was brought to my attention, I talked to the guildie in question, and she then apologized, on Twitter and I thought it was done and over. It looked like a misunderstanding that had been cleared up. When I woke up this morning, contrary to my impressions, the situation from last night was not resolved and had exploded. The great thing about the Twitter and subsequent blogger community is the solidarity. We are quick to band together when someone upsets one of our friends. Today I had an upset blogger who wrote of her experience with the member of my guild, and another who was outright livid and made no bones about it. The subsequent tweets and comments about both posts made my heart sink as I read them.

So here I am with big girl panties on (more uncomfortable than pants let me tell you), doing damage control. I had a discussion with the guildie that very clearly conveyed my unhappiness. Eff the Ineffable is a guild that was built largely through the WoW community on twitter. I hope that everyone in the wonderful twitter/blogger community knows that if they ever have a problem with anyone in the guild they can come to Orv or myself and we will take the situation seriously. I believe that Eff the Ineffable is, and will remain a friendly guild where people know how to treat each other.

As an aside, a thing that happened today is that Blizzard announced a security breach. So yeah, go change your password to something you will never remember the very next time you log on. :)Nymphyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03797541203329264799noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3438520024263354776.post-15902885559816791282012-08-02T02:00:00.000-04:002012-08-02T02:00:15.774-04:00Gamer Grrls and Guys: Long Distance to Living Together Nymphy is the GM of Eff the Ineffable and regrets the sheer neglect of this blog, especially after the brand new header was installed by the lovely Liala, over at Disciplinary Action. Hopefully this revival in the sheer lack of topics in this in between expansions time, will breathe new life into it.

Orv is the emergency back up substitute co-GM of Eff the Ineffable. He heard Nymphy was writing about moving in together and wanted to make sure she didn’t blurt all of his embarrassing habits out to all the readers... then had to put his two cents in.

*Dusts off the blog, sneezes a couple times* Wow, deserted much? But to be honest, while we are majorly behind on a lot of projects, there really isn’t much WoW material to be had. Yes, Eff the Ineffable is proud to have cleared 2/8 heroic Dragon Soul and knocked out about half the steps for the meta achievements as well. But real life has a way of interfering and that is exactly what happened with us. The biggest news of course is that Nymphy is expecting a baby at the end of November. For those keeping time by when Mists of Pandaria is released, she is due approximately two months into the expansion. The fine people of Twitter have dubbed the baby “Lockling” as it was conceived by a mage (blue) and a pally (pink) whose class colors combine to make purple(ish). Such logic can’t be refuted.

In other exciting news, Orv and Nymphy are finally moved in together after 18 long months of living in different states, which brings up the core of this post; what happens when two geeks who have been in a long distance relationship finally move in together? Whose nerd swag gets to go on the prominent shelves? How do you behave around each other? Well ladies and gentleman, this is the post for you. The answer to all the questions, including the most important one.... “Where does the cereal go?”

The Oatmeal, a fine comic, puts forth that cereal should go on the middle shelf of a cupboard or a pantry. Ahem, WRONG! Cereal needs to be admired, it has to have easy access, and most importantly, it is too much effort to open the door to see the variety of cereal. Therefore, it should be on top of the fridge. That way it is only a couple steps from cereal to the milk. Easy peasy! As far as other food, well it can live where it wants. The only important thing is where the cereal lives. And variety is a must!

Where are we putting your stuff?

Orv says: The cereal goes in the pantry you heathen! Figuring out how to organize your shared space is probably the first challenge you’ll notice when you move in together. Nymphy and I are lucky that we’re moving into a new home for both of us, which removes some of the emotional awkwardness that could have come along with one of us having to pack away some of our things from their current spaces to make rooms for the other’s.

Another questions is what happens when you see each other now? Before when you saw each other maybe once a month you made sure you were showered, shaved, looked and smelled nice. What happens now that you are going to be living together? Well, I will tell you that ALL CHANGES! Ladies, he is going to see your bed head (and not the artfully done with gel and hairspray tousled look either), he is going to smell your morning breath after you have slept all night with your mouth open and possibly drool at the corners. Guys, she is going to see you with your hair sticking up all sideways and wild (Orv is a curly haired man, he knows what I am talking about!) Perhaps you, too, drool and are a mouth breather.

Orv says: Hopefully by the time you’re ready to move in together you’ll seen enough of each other’s flaws to have some idea what you’re getting into. Your partner’s snores, drool, or the way they encroach on your side of the bed if you give them even the tiniest inch(!!!) should not come as a surprise at this point. The challenge is to avoid letting the comfort you need to have with each other take away from the intimacy you share.

If he doesn't move his hand I'm going to shank him.

What about bed sharing? No, not THAT bed sharing you dirty minded people. Who gets the covers, and whose pillows are better and what side of the bed do you want? No more having the bed strictly your way where you can sprawl all over it. Nope you have to be nice and share! Fortunately it works out if you are a snuggler, another body with you in bed is so lovely if you are. If you aren’t then I suggest boundaries, probably with a 2x4 down the middle of the bed. That could probably solve it. But that requires strict measurements to ensure one partner does not have even an inch more than the other. If you don’t want to mess up your nice sheets then a pillow between you two should work.

Orv says: For Nymphy and I this was something of a settled issue. I can’t sleep on my left side since I hurt that shoulder a few years back, so we lay so that I can sleep on my right side and curl up with her. Despite that, it was something we spent a lot of time talking about early on in our relationship, so we would know what to do when sleeping together. (Does that make us weird? I don’t have a good baseline here.)

Orv's been doing it wrong all this time.

Another good thing to work out beforehand, is bathroom privacy. In the beginning, you might be tempted to hide the fact that you are pooping by taking drastic measures as running the shower and/or the sink to disguise noises. All with the door being firmly shut and afterwards spraying liberally with Febreze or your air freshener of choice. Maybe you are as comfortable with each other to let each other in while you are peeing. *gasp!* Or, peeing with the door open! Eventually though, you’ll be comfortable enough together that such drastic precautions re: bathroom time will cease to be necessary and it will be treated for what it is: a fact of everyday life. But Nymphy, answer the age old question: What side should the toilet paper be on on the roll? I am glad you asked. Obviously it should go over. After all do you KNOW what kind of gross things that are on that wall by the toilet?! And you want to wipe with toilet tissue that brushes against it if it is rolled under?! Gross. Also another hot button topic: Toilet seat up or down? Gentlemen, as bachelors you probably didn’t think twice about leaving the seat up. Trust me when I say that your lady will appreciate not getting up in the middle of the night half asleep and sitting down in a toilet bowl full of cold water. So start practicing now to lower the seat. Your lady will thank you later.

Orv says: Nymphy and I were lucky here in that neither of us are particularly self-conscious in that area, but for those of you that are it is important to respect your partner’s personal space. That’s advice that shouldn’t be limited to privacy in the bathroom. Just because the two of you have moved in together doesn’t mean that you won’t each feel the need for some privacy from time to time.

Ok, super serious here: As in every relationship, compromise is needed. Maybe you guys don’t like overly girly colors or maybe you ladies don’t like his man chair. Or you both hate the way the other organizes their desk/gaming paraphernalia. Those things are easy to agree on when you get down to the important part, you guys fell in love miles away and love each other enough to take the chance and move in together. Often requiring one or both of you to move from where you used to live. Remember at all times what made you guys click. Which brings us to a serious part. Fighting. I am not talking about a tiny spat over how he always wants fast food. Or how she left all her makeup on the bathroom sink. I am talking genuinely angry feels. Long distance relationships tend to buffer the more serious fighting than living with each other face to face does. Previously you could always just take off your headset, turn off your phone, etc until you cooled off enough to at least text. Living together means you are in each other’s faces. You don’t have the option of doing any of the things you did before you moved in together. This makes practicing good, open communication more important than ever. You need to be able to tell your partner when you need to cool off or get away from the fight. This doesn’t mean you get a free pass to walk away from a fight with issues left unresolved, but rather that you need to know when you’re going to cross a line, and how to back off before that happens. Not saying that we are perfect, Orv and I, (well I am anyway ;) ) but falling in love was easy. Making the decision to live together after becoming accustomed to life long distance was scary. Overall the best pieces of advice we can give is build on what made you fall in love with the other in the first place, whether it be your mutual love of gaming, reading, music, etc. I hope this helps any of you other lucky couples who are taking that leap of faith to transition from long distance, texting, phone, and Skype to real life, in your face, together 24/7 life together.

Orv says: Nymphy and I have been fortunate that we are good at working through arguments.... when we have some distance between us. Resolving our mutual stubbornness and strong opinions when we are face to face after a day that has been frustrating for both of us... is a challenge we still have to figure out.Nymphyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03797541203329264799noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3438520024263354776.post-29151625996468687412012-04-26T13:26:00.000-04:002012-04-26T13:26:27.703-04:00In Which D/E the Tank! Celebrates its First Blogoversary! First we would like to first thank our readers. Without you guys, this wouldn’t have been nearly so much fun. It is hard to believe that we have been around a year. Well, to be technical we realize that we are a week late, however cast your eyes to the top. See that? Yes! It is our new header! Courtesy of the lovely Liala over at Disciplinary Action we have a nice new shiny! We thought it would be apropos to save our big first year post to also commemorate a new header as well!

But Nymphy, you promised us babies! I do want to apologize for the severe lateness in two of our Epic Baby Posts. I also promise that we will put them together as soon as possible if not this weekend. Real life has eaten my time and Orv’s as well. We have not forgotten and you shall get your dose of squee here soon!

This past year has been an amazing experience, both in doing the baby posts and others. The whole blogging, WoW, and Twitter community has been so supportive in helping us turn a maybe thing into a very fun and real thing! Looking back over the year that we have been writing this blog we are very humbled by the people who read and enjoy it. So to all of our readers, commenters, twitter followers, friends, romans, countrymen, thank you for joining us time and time again as we try to make you laugh, make you think, make you a better tank (whether of mobs or the floor), or make you squee at adorable babies. (We promise the rest of the baby posts are coming!) We will also try to up the posting rate. Twice a month, if that, is terrible and we are sorry! We do hope you will continue to follow our antics as we go into Mists bubble sheeping through WoW. And pets! And maybe more babies! ;) Definitely more floor tanking! And perhaps another boring tank guide from Orv.

She heard from a guildie that the esteemed Big Bear Butt was hosting a writing challenge. You could write whatever you wanted as long as you included 7 certain words. These words made it a challenge not to go completely perverted and she thinks she mostly succeeded

Required Words: Juicy, Slender, Vain, Shaft, Torch, Star, and Hidden

(As an aside, it was REALLY hard not to go completely perverted with these >.>)

My thought processes on this was that there were 7 mandatory words to be used. There were also 7 bosses in the tier 12 raid Firelands. I then creatively applied one word to each of the bosses.

Introducing the bosses of Firelands:

Oh Shannox, I hate thee, and how you stay hidden,

And when you come out, to play with me, with your dogs I am so smitten

Beth'tilac, you must lose some weight my dear,

Stop eating those spiderlings, maybe once you're slender I'll leer.

Lord Rhyolith, thou of stout stature, you fill me with disdain

Your lofty title, you aren't worthy of, tells me that you must be vain,

Baleroc, what we of Eff call Ballface, you were once so hard

Though your only shaft was actually a tormenting shard

Alysrazor, oh bird of flame, your feathers gave me wings

Once your torch blew out, your body gave me epic things

Majordomo Staghelm, your ego knows no bounds.

Rhee thought you were juicy*, but you were only covering Executus' ground.

And to end this tier on a familiar note, we come to Ragnaros and his fire.

Again the star of the show, alas, of him we tired.

*Rhee's healing druid Haeli had a thing for Majordomo Staghelm and was always /flirting /licking and /kissing him.Nymphyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03797541203329264799noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3438520024263354776.post-43546389181290479272012-03-13T18:14:00.000-04:002012-03-13T18:14:53.469-04:00Bullying: Why My Online Personality Isn't My Real OneYou may know Nymphy from her occasionally witty and funny posts here on this blog as well as being the newly procced GM of Eff the Ineffable. You may also know that she loves babies and sometimes writes posts about them. You may know her as the flirty and fun arcane mage that loves achievements and old school raiding. And you may know her from her flagrant affair with the floor and the Spirit Healer. Yet behind the awesomely mogged pixels on the screen, Nymphy is played by a person and that person is me.

Warning: may cause triggers and involves mentions of childhood bullying, sexual, emotional, and physical abuse, depression, and anxiety.

Thanks to the overwhelming bravery of Apple Cider Mage, WoWExclucis, LodurZJ, and the outpouring of support from people like Grimmtooth, Big Bear Butt, and many others I have decided to add my voice, timid though it may be. They have all written posts about bullying over the past few days, and I am inspired by their courage. Bullying is insidious and has far reaching consequences. Unlike them, I am not writing about a specific incidence of bullying in my life, I am writing about the consequences of bullying. In a way, my whole personality is a consequence.

We sometimes forget that the toon on the screen is a real person because emotions are easily masked behind cheerful banter and flirtatious whispers. When you interact with their toon, you have no way of knowing that that toon is a front, a way to be someone that they wish they could be. The online community provides such a level of anonymity that you can use to hide behind an avatar, a screen name. You can be the person you want to be. Online, I can be the friendly, outgoing, and almost popular person that in real life I am never and could never be.

I have been bullied all my life. In school I was that girl who walked quickly between classes with her arms wrapped around a stack of books never stopping to flirt at her locker with some boy that she liked that week. I have never been popular....ever. I had a couple friends, but those friendships died after school ended. I was that girl who got picked on at the playground. I was pushed from a wall and had my arm broken once, and I have had spitballs and rocks thrown at my head. Taunts and insults were hurled at my mind, but the bullying at school was preferable to the bullying at home. I grew up a foster child. I have been physically, emotionally, and sexually abused.

When I met my future husband while taking the ASVAB test to get into the military, I thought that maybe, just maybe there was something worth seeing in me.Yeah there was something there all right. He saw in me a person that he could control and emotionally tear down until there was nothing left.

Bullying has gifted me with clinical depression and an anxiety disorder. There are days where I simply cannot find motivation to do anything. There are days where I have anxiety attacks to the point where I am crippled by indecision. Even today, surrounded by friends on the internet, I cannot believe that they are friendly to me because of me. I am convinced that they are only friendly because they are being kind, pitying even. My self esteem is non existent. I don’t look at myself and think that I am a person worth knowing or loving. Bullying of this kind has made its mark in permanent ink on my psyche. WoW is my escape and a chance to let the personality I would have had naturally free to express herself. THIS is the product of lifelong bullying.

I am here writing this because you never know what a kind word or a random /hug can do to help a person like me. I am not writing this, as some trolls will say, for attention. At least not attention for me. I am writing this to bring attention TO what bullying can cause. Even though there may appear to be no fabled light at the end of a tunnel, or a rope dangling to the bottom of a very deep hole, there always is. Reach out to someone, ANYONE, because I, of all people, have learned that you don't have to suffer alone. There are people out there who are willing to talk about meaningless things to help you feel better about the world. I have created my own personal support team filled with people who will take that time to ensure that I am not alone when I shouldn’t be. Whether or not I listen to my doubts about the validity of their concern is another story.

If you are a victim of online bullying please refer to Apple Cider Mage's guide for help. And if things look to be SO DARK that you are thinking of harming yourself or others please call the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).

This time we come to say Happy Birthday to little Dwarfling. Teagan was just 5 months old when we saw her first. In just 7 short months she has gone from barely crawling to fully walking and even climbing up and down stairs. As well as giving her daddy Fannon a few heart attacks in between! It was not so long ago when he was proudly posting pictures of her like this:
Teagan Lily is now her own girl with her daddy (and the rest of us!) around her little finger. Among fist bumping and high-fiving she also likes:

Favorite Foods: Bananas, strawberries, Cheddar Cheese and Fruit Yogurt.

Favorite Toys: She has two: A barnyard matching game that sings and plays music that she loves dancing to, and a miniature Bacardi rum bottle that she loves holding. Daddy is getting the feeling she's going to be a party girl. She also really enjoys banging tunelessly on piano keys.

(Re: the rum bottle Nymphy says: Oh my! Better watch out for that girl ;) )

Favourite TV Show: None, she isn't really interested in TV yet. But she does like it any time there is a show or commercial with a theme song. The So You Think You Can Dance theme song is probably her favourite; she always dances along with it.

Favourite Activity: Dancing. She dances pretty much any time a commercial comes on the TV with music to it. She dances to her musical toys, the radio or Daddy's singing. It's the most adorable thing he's ever seen.

As well as melting her daddy’s heart over and over by excitedly walking to him and squeezing his knees, thereby making her annoyance proof.

As always, this is one of my most favorite posts to write. Just because I get my dose of cute in it :) For the baby that started it all, Happy First Birthday Dwarfling! And thank you Fannon, for letting me borrow her these past few times.

And if you missed the first birthday post go here and wish #Sapling Happy Birthday as well as see extra pics that I threw in there because more pictures equal more cute equals more squee! :)
This time we visit just one of the not so little babies. Late as this post is: it is time to say Happy 1st Birthday to Caitlin aka the Sapling. :) Like all babies, she has grown so big in what seems like so little time and has developed her own little personality. Here is Sapling when we first saw her at 6 mos old:

It doesn’t seem that long ago when I first started this series of post. At the time revisiting them for their first birthdays seemed a long way off, but I imagine the time flew even faster for her mom over at HoTs and DoTs. She remembers her when Caitlin was first born and looking just like this:

Now here she is at one:

Now that she is old enough to have her own idea of what she likes here is a list of a few of them*:

TV: Waybuloo, Thomas the Tank Engine (really only the theme song which she loves to dance to!) & In The Night Garden
Books: The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Gruffalo & Wonkey Donkey
Food: Blueberries definitely! Cherries & Sultanas are definitely up there too :)
1st Words: Mumma and Daddy. Followed by "cat" and "that" (which she says while pointing to whatever it is she wants)
Activities: The 3 S's - Swimming, Swinging & Sliding! She also has a dance routine which is very cute and uncoordinated!
Toys: Xylophone, any remote and mummy's iPhone

*Caitlin lives in the Land Down Under so don’t be confused about some of these things!

Like one year olds everywhere, she loves fruit and phones. Really, toy phones really don’t fool them at all!

Happy Birthday Caitlin and congrats Philippa. You have an adorable little girl and it has been a privilege and pleasure to be able to write about her. She has added a hefty dose of cute and adorable to our blog.
Edited for MOAR CUTENESS! (That and well, more pictures are a good thing yes?)
Nymphyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03797541203329264799noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3438520024263354776.post-60614231662806365772012-02-17T21:11:00.046-05:002012-02-18T00:52:16.847-05:00One Picture is Awesome, but Six is Better! In Where We Get Tagged for the 6's Internet MemeNymphy is an arcane mage who also happens to be the newly procced GM of Eff the Ineffable. She feels like she has finally “arrived” on the Internet because this is the first meme she has been tagged for.

Orv is a protection pally who is helping Nymphy with her turn as Defense Against the Dark Arts Prof- err GM of Eff the Ineffable. He’s glad that Nymphy stepped up to take the reins of EtI because she’s much nicer than he is, and no one will suspect her...

The Deal:
Apparently Gnomeaggedon has decided that he really wants to know what is hidden in our picture files. Not just the top pictures....no no he wants the deep, dark, and hidden ones! So the lovely Fannon and our favorite (well, ONE of them anyway) guildie Grimmtooth has tagged us for this meme. Didn’t anyone tell you guys that curiosity can lead to things that cannot be unseen? Oh well, here goes.

The Rules:
They are fairly simple. You go into your Pictures file.
Count to the Sixth sub folder.
Open it.
And whatever the Sixth picture is you post it. Along with a few words so we aren’t all cocking our heads to the side and going wtf? As if being a blogger you won’t say anything anyway ;)
But wait! There is more!
You are to then tag Six MORE people to do this. We guess the idea is to unearth ALL the pictures.

So there you have it. BUT there is a problem with these rules. WAY TOO SIMPLE. Since when did we do things the simple way? So since we love the number six, and there are two of us that write this particular blog, we are going to dig and come up with Six pictures. Three from each of us.

So let us get started shall we? Upon opening said Picture file, Orv had none except sample pics so he is going to go dig in his #Tankling file instead. And Nymphy has found a baby picture herself :D

Well, this is embarrassing. For all that Nymphy loves WoW babies, she realized she has neglected to share her own. This is a picture of her youngest daughter Makayla. It was taken when she was just 7 mos old. Makayla is now 2 years old.
I've had a couple interesting chats in guild lately with @lillipodes and @rosaamarilla about RP and character motivation. Then I forced @snack_road to listen to my ramblings. Then I wedged my way into a twitter conversation with still more folks about Orv's motivations as a character and what I think he would like to do in the future.

"You don't look even a little bit familiar, Orv."

Orv has never been a strong Varian loyalist. He had some serious problems with the way the Defias issue was handled, and while Varian can't take all the blame for that, Orv thinks he has failed to address a whole host of internal issues in his kingdom (while building a giant god damn statue to his vanity). Orv also has some problems with Tirion Fordring, though those are of a more personal nature. He feels that Tirion snubbed him the first time he visited the man after he set himself up in Hearthglenn. After all Orv is an Argent Champion and was with Tirion to bring down the Lich King, and Tirion acted like he didn't know who Orv was. (Note: What's his name in Westfall is able to recognize that Orv completed a quest for him back in the day. Clearly Blizzard has the technology to have NPC's recognize characters as having done certain quests, I would assume that this could easily be adapted to have Tirion recognize someone with the Kingslayer achievement). On top of that Orv is disturbed that Tirion has failed to consolidate his power and failed to provide meaningful assistance to the Alliance as the Forsaken attacked Andorhal RIGHT ON HIS DOORSTEP. Seriously, there are Val'kyr raising undead right down the road from his city and there he is continuing his stance of neutrality. While that may be a practical matter to avoid the fate of Southshore Orv is convinced that Tirion basically has his head up his ass.

This leaves Orv in an awkward position. He does not want to place himself squarely under Varian's authority as he doesn't trust the man's integrity. He does not want to place himself under Tirion's authority because really... forget that guy. Orv thinks this puts him among a solid number of Paladins who lack direction, and not being the sort so sit around and ignore a problem, he has come up with a solution. Orv wants to name himself Highlord of the Silver Hand and rally human and dwarven paladins who do not closely associate themselves with the Church in Stormwind, or with the Argent Crusade in Hearthglenn. Orv spent all of Vanilla and BC living in Ironforge and feels that he would have a lot of support from dwarven paladins in particular.

Once Orv has established a solid core of paladins around him he has a solid plan of action to give them a purpose. Part one of his plan (inspired by Rades's post) involves dragging Danath Trollbane out of Hellfire Peninsula and assisting the man (and whatever intensely battle hardened troops followed him) in reclaiming Stromgarde. This is an excellent strategic move as it establishes a clear line of support from Ironforge up to the Hinterlands, allowing for uninterrupted supply lines to the Wildhammer Stronghold in Aerie Peaks and from there up to Hearthglenn.
A naval assault from Stormwind accompanied by a ground campaign launched from Stromgarde would hopefully allow the Gilneans to reclaim their country.
A "come to the Light" talk with the paladin by all of the important human and dwarven leaders explaining that if the Argent Crusade wants to be viewed as something other than a horde-loving threat to humanity, that Tirion needs to remember his loyalty to the crown of Lordaeron and join forces with Stormwind, Gilneas, Stromgarde, and Ironforge to lead a force upon the Undercity. With enemies on all sides and Garrosh's already uncertain view of her loyalty, the Banshee Queen might well find herself alone before the might of the Alliance. The Forsaken have never seemed especially close to the Blood Elves, despite Sylvanas having once been one of their own. After having the Scourge rampage through their lands, Orv believes that the Blood Elves could be convinced that the welcoming arms of the Alliance are a far better option than helping Sylvanas and the dead.

For the humans it is a play on loyalty. Loyalty to Gilneas. To Stromgarde. To Lordaeron. For the paladins (human and dwarven alike) it is about finding an identity... returning to their roots. For the dwarves and blood elves it is about mutual gain. And at the end of the day the Alliance will have near absolute control of the Eastern Kingdoms, and the ability to marshal its forces and build its strength to stand against anything the Horde might throw against it.Orvhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04957977247403954187noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3438520024263354776.post-61776807429107523472011-12-25T23:36:00.001-05:002011-12-25T23:46:18.521-05:00Merry Christmas and Happy Winter Veil

So I started researching which raids/dungeons it dropped from when I got distracted by a Twitter conversation in which Rades (yes we must blame Rades, there is even a hashtag for it. #BlameRades) was talking about cloth robes. Before I get rambly here, I must confess that when I FIRST named my toon it was Nymphy as in the woodland nymph, NOT the any sort of sexualized intent. Eventually I gave up on battling the public perception that the name was laden with innuendo and ran with it. Sooooo you can guess where this is leading. I tweeted at Rades asking where is the most skankified cloth robes in the game and he directed me to Ahn’Qiraj.
There are 4 different recolors in the game; yellow-green; pink; blue; and orange. I must have spent at least 3 months haunting that place and dragging Orv with me willing for ONE of them to drop. And eventually one did. The yellow-green one. Being a female I wasn’t happy with it and so when Orv thought I was done dragging him to the bug raids, I pleaded with him. BUT the other colors are PRETTIER. He melted under such pleading and agreed to keep going to AQ until another color dropped. And it did! The pink one! And boy did I get reactions when I got my stuff together and mogged! I couldn’t walk down the street in Stormwind without being whistled and winked at! So, I eventually remembered to take some screenshots.
Just because a girl likes to strut her stuff while she’s burning demons to ash with untold arcane power (Bwahahahahahahaha!) doesn’t mean she’s asking for it. Unless “it” is more pieces of t13 gear that is. And if you are interested, here is my set. Beware, the robes have ONLY a 8% drop rate at best.

Head: Holy Shroud
Shoulders: Aurora Mantle
Cloak: Lord Prestor’s Drape (Nymphy says: I had to do unspeakable things with
him to persuade him to let me have it)( Orv says: EWWW LORD PRESTOR IS DEATHWING!) (Nymphy says: Yes well that's just one more reason to go off and kill him.)
Robes: Vestments of the Shifting Sands
Gloves: Soulcloth Gloves
Belt: Arcanist Belt (not a PERFECT match, but it is doable)
Pants: Black Mageweave Leggings (What OTHER legs would look good with the sides cut out? Makes them look like garters now)
Boots: Sandals of the Shadowsworn
Weapon: House Wrynn Dagger
Off Hand: Orb of the First Satyrs. (Unfortunately I havent found a really good off hand mog yet. :( )

But Nymphy! What about your bracers and wand?! This is where my frugality comes in. You don’t ever see your wand really, just walking around. And on certain glove mogs you don’t see your bracers either. But Nymphy! Sometimes you have a staff! Well if I get an upgrade staff this is what I use to mog it: Staff of First Occurrences.

Cheatery Hints: Go do Loremaster achievements! That is the main source for mogging possibilities! Also, go to the old main cities like Dalaran and Shattrath and see what you can get for cheap amounts of JP. I keep pushing Orv to Shatt, they have a nice plate set for under 1k JP.

So, dear readers, what interesting outfits have you mogged up? Clown suits from BC? Pally judgement set (yawn)? Or just your favorite old gear that’s been hanging out in your bank forever?

P.S. Eff the Ineffable is recruiting! Some of our members have headed off to a galaxy far, far away and we’re welcoming any classes and specs to round our our raiding team. We have LFR/Alt nights Wednesdays from 9:30-11:30 EST, and real raids Friday and Saturday nights, 9:30-12:30 EST. She has been airing a series of YouTube videos to showcase some art “of

I mean she has an enchanted broom, why not a MoP? She guesses that said MoP is going to revolutionize the way she...wait...*peers at spelling* Oh! MoP as in the new land that revealed itself when Deathwing decided to throw a tantrum and shatter Azeroth as she knew it.

Orvillius is a protection paladin who finds the sudden existence of a new continent that people totally never noticed before completely plausible. After all, have you seen the shipping lanes from Stormwind to Darnassus? (It’s an honest question, Orv would never be caught in Darnassus)

Blizzcon has come and gone and once again there were plenty of shattering revelations. This year’s news has brought about an even greater uproar than most years. So all the furor has Orv and Nymphy digging to see exactly what all the fuss is about.
Pandas.

ZOMG! PANDAS!!! These cute fuzzy bears have everyone in an uproar. These, along with the new features introduced seem to be a deal breaker for some people. Really? Pandas will break you? I mean that is plausible I guess, they DO have black belts. The Pandaren are introduced as the title race in Mists of Pandaria. They are a neutral starting race who choose, at level ten, whether to support the Horde or Alliance.

Look at how CUUUTE!

Nymphy: AMG! Pandas!! SQUEE!!! I personally LIKE the idea of pandas. I am already debating on whether or not to roll a panda mage or go with one of the new classes that are introduced.

Orv: Ugly green Orcs, rasta-parody Trolls, TAUREN!, GNOMES!, overly-stereotypical Dwarves, space-goats!, elves of all varieties, and the Pandas are what “jumped the shark”? I can’t buy it. The Pandaren are just as old as the Taurens (tweeting Rades to check on this). Just because we haven’t seen them in WoW doesn’t mean that they aren’t part of the Warcraft mythology. I’m interested in seeing their continent. If there was one thing I enjoyed about B.C. and Wrath that felt missing in Cata, it was the experience of exploring MORE of Azeroth (I know B.C. was Draenor, hush). Northrend and Outlands felt like whole new worlds, and walking off the boat in Northrend and having the initial quest givers react like Orv was a serious, hardcore hero was such a contrast to showing up at Honor Hold in Outlands and the “just try not to get anyone else killed when you die horribly” attitude of the quest givers there. I want to journey to Pandaria and be amazed by the scenery, the stories, and the world that has been presented to us. I want the same feeling of wonder that I had the first time I stood on the top of the dam in Loch Modan and looked out across the Wetlands.

New Talent Trees.

In Wrath we had 71 talent points to play with at level 80. The possibilites were EVERYWHERE! Nymphy fondly remembers Frostfire spec...burn and freeze ALL the things! She had her beloved Icy Veins paired with some yummy Arcane Power. Those were the days. In patch 4.0 talent trees were cut almost in half. Now we had to really think how we wanted to spend our measly 41 points at level 85. With the new upcoming talent trees, Blizzard has gone even farther and is allotting us 6 points, one for each of six tiers containing three possible choices.

Nymphy: DOUBLE POLYMORPH?!?! Hmm now do I want a pig and a bunny? A monkey and a sheep? A penguin and a black cat? Two turtles? I am unsure about this new system overall, however. It is described as the end of “cookie-cutter” specs. NOW how am I supposed to figure out how to pew pew to the most destruction?

Orv: I don’t claim to be a theory-crafter, I’ve never been on the cutting edge of raiding, spending hours crunching numbers and building formulas to determine the absolute best spec for each encounter, but I have always enjoyed discussing spec choices with tanks who do things just a little bit differently from me to understand the thinking behind their choices, and what benefits they feel they are getting from those differences. That said, even I can agree that it was probably never more than five or ten points that were shifted around between the different “cookie-cutter” specs among the vast majority of raiding prot pallies. If that is the case, how much does it really matter whether I have 90 talent points with 85 of them exactly the same as every other paladin, or a fixed build where I get six talent points to choose among 18 different talents. I have not changed out my talent point choices since pre-patch 4.2, but I change my glyphs out from fight to fight, and if that is the model that is being discussed for these six talent points I feel like it will actually open up MORE customization, which is a good thing.

Non-Combat Pet Battles

This change has many people crying “Pokemon knock off.” The premise is that you can take your companion pets, train them up, and battle other players’ pets. In addition to the familiar avenues of pet acquisition (quest/acheese rewards, Blizzard store), the expansion offers you the chance to farm pets in the wild.

If you lose one more fight it's back to the orphanage for you!

Nymphy: Now where did I put my Pokeballs? In all seriousness this has made my pet collector self go absolutely mad with joy. MOAR pets? EVERYWHERE??!! Yes please! Hunters are not the only ones that are going to be privileged by having combat pets. Can we say Pheonix Hatchling, I choose you? I can see it now though, dog-fighting rings with the Pug and Corehound, “cock”-fighting with the Westfall and Ancona chickens, and those orphans? Oh those poor, poor orphans.

Orv: The first time they release a “pet” on the online store that Nymphy just has to have so she can battle with it my wallet is going to cry. Maybe not the first time, but definitely the fifth time. I don’t feel excited about this feature personally, but I look at it the same way I looked at fishing and cooking until late in Wrath, extras that I just was not going to spend much of my time on. Maybe I’ll give it a try now and again, but I don’t think it is for me. That said the introduction of this feature isn’t scaring me away. So long as there is enough new content that my time is filled up I’ll be happy, but if the environments, dungeons, and raids feel super light I’ll feel like the non-combat pet battles were development time poorly spent (even as I buy more of them for Nymphy).

Nymphy: Overall Mists of Pandaria has me excited for new content. Rather than jumping ship immediately and going straight to another MMO such as SW: ToR, I am going to wait and see all that this expansion has to offer. A huge mystery is the end boss. In Wrath we knew eventually we would be fighting the Lich King just as we know that eventually we will be fighting Deathwing come Patch 4.3. Who else is there to fight at this point? I do know one thing however, (this is aimed at you Blizzard!) if I have to pew pew Onyxia, or Nefarion, or Ragnaros again....I will be angry and bring my Arcane Blasts to YOUR door! Let them stay DEAD!

Orv: I have to admit I’ve been a HUGE Star Wars fan for as long as I can remember, and I am excited to play a Sith Juggernaut this December (Nymphy always knew he was an evil bast--uh, person) but WoW time is my time with Nymphy and she is 100% in WoW’s corner, so unless ToR completely blows both of us out of the water I think I’ll be staying with WoW. That said I would love to see WoW roll out something along the lines of the story heavy flashpoints that I’m hearing about in ToR.

So there you have it, Mists of Pandaria. People are divided into I <3 Pandas and the OMG Blizzard Y U Ruin Ma Game!? camps. Orv and Nymphy are in the middle but will definitely be giving this expansion a try.Orvhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04957977247403954187noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3438520024263354776.post-60107292812645696842011-10-01T12:38:00.000-04:002011-10-01T12:38:14.104-04:00We Need an Effin' HealerOrvillius doesn’t understand why EtI needs another healer. All of the current content has been nerfed to the point where the bosses might as well be using wiffle bats. Surely Team Heals can just 2 Heal....what’s that? Anyone suggesting Team Heals start 2-Healing can go without ANY heals? Right then... Hail Team Heals!

Nymphy is a mage with Eff the Ineffable and is super excited at the prospect of frustrating---er challenging a brand new healer. Maybe this will mean that she will finally get to go visit her Spirit Healer after so long. The current Healer Tyranny refuses to allow such frivolities.

Due to the indefeatable boss stuck on perma-hard mode called Real LIfe, the Effers have found themselves in need of an intrepid player to willingly join the ranks of the tyrants known as Team Heal. So you find yourself interested are you? Oh dear...this is your chance to run! Run away as fast as you can possibly go! Are you still here? Fine, here’s what you need to know before you join the Effin’ Healers.

Eff the Ineffable currently raids Tuesday from 9:30-11:30pm EST and Fridays and Saturdays from 9:30pm-12:30am EST on Azuremyst (US).

Our current progress is 6/7 regular T12. Although by the time you decide you want to join us we might very well be 7/7.

What’s our guild like? Do we really have to answer this? Can we lie? :) Eff the Ineffable is comprised of people who either write blogs, like this one, or read them. We are headed up by our loving--*coughcough*--GM---*cough*dictator*cough* Alastriona. On a serious note we are adults who understand that life gets in the way and we raid when we can and we are serious when we do so. What little drama we do experience we work out in our forums.

Wait, you are STILL interested? Very well, Team Heal is ruled by the Iron Fist of Zelsha from Murloc Parliament. As a priest she wants no competition for her gear (aside from the two other priests who already have to fight to the death any time spirit cloth drops). Therefore if you are a priest, we are very sorry. Any other class of healer? Great! By all means, join us! But be prepared for *some* sit-outage. We do try to be fair when rostering our raids and base our sitouts based on a percentage system. But what about raid composition you may ask? Bahahaha! What is that? The ideal healer must be prepared to be able to heal on a normal night a raid consisting of anything but your expected “ideal” or “normal” raid composition.

Oh and one other thing, you must be willing to heal! We need a person who genuinely doesn’t mind being a dedicated healer. We don’t want to feel like we are forcing anyone to heal for us. So! If you have managed not to run away by now and are interested, you can reach out to Zelsha or Alas, and be sure to bring a link to your Armory page, a recent WoL report, and be ready to discuss your recent healing experience.

P.S. If you’re going to join Team Heal, you need to be willing to let Nymphy die*. Her whole internet persona revolves around floor tanking, but she’s going on more than three months now without dying horribly to something stupid!
She is a well liked toon by other people across other servers and time zones. She was recently felled not by an ordinary raid boss, but instead was slain by a little 5-baby instance group with the buffs of Squee and Cute on their side.

#Dwarfling, #Sproutling, #Sapling, #Knightling, and finally #Tankling. Those of you that follow us on Twitter are familiar with these hashtags denoting quite possibly the cutest babies born this year to the bloggers and players of WoW. A couple of them with their own blogs have caused us to squee and exclaim over posted pictures and new adventures. It wasn’t until recently that we all came to the conclusion that, well, they make up the perfect 5-man group. That idea took root here and I became determined that this should be blogged about. After all, it is only fitting to talk about babies born to bloggers in a blog post! So it is my very special pleasure as a fellow blogger, WoW player, and mom to bring back this special 5-man group.

We first introduced the Epic Babies back in June when Tankling was just born. Now the babies have had a few months together to grind out some gear and they are ready for heroics! By learning how to crawl and scoot, they are newly mobile and ready for new adventures. Come with me and peek at the dungeons they have stomped...err crawled through.

The Tank(ess)-

At age 3 mos, Elli has been busy wrapping the people who love her around her little finger. In this peek, you see her using her finishing move of Big Blue Eyes along with the newly trained Giggle and Coo to reduce the Daddy Boss to a pile of mush. The strat to this boss is fairly straight forward as Tankling’s birth was an automatic crit, reducing Daddy to 50% health. Combined with the debuff of Finger Wrap, the Daddy Boss falls quickly to Tankling’s auto attack, “Cuteness.” Watching this video even the most hardened heart can’t help but go “Aww!”

The Healer-

Now 7 mos old, Teagan has been hard at work on her professions to help her through dungeons. A budding engineer, she has made a trinket that stacks with her Tier Bonus to help proc Adorable to and bring her Cuteness over 9,000! No longer needing to rely solely on Inconsolable Cry, Dwarfling has picked up the instant casts “Happy Smile” and “What’s Daddy Doing With That Camera?” to use while rolling over bosses.

The DPS-

Also 7 months old, Taylor, also known as the Knightling, has been working on her Squee-ling Blast, an interrupt that freezes the boss in place unable to do anything but stand there and, well, squee. In this video you can see how Knightling has isolated a murloc from his pack and mocks him with Raspberry Taunt after locking him down. Along with her gryphon, ( MUCH more appropriate than a Ghoul, obviously) Taylor is ready to face down the tiniest of foes on the internet.

At 8 and a half months, Caitlin - better known as Sapling, has been working on her trash clearing etiquette. Knowing that Arcane Mages can see their dps drop in movement heavy fights, Sapling has been practicing crawling around and tab targeting between multiple mobs. You can see that Sapling is sporting matching gear in her video, which can only mean the adorable mage has been to visit Baby Ragnaros and Friends.

Matthew, the 6 mos old Sproutling, is turning out the be the leader of the group with his confident sounding tone as he leads the fight with the Scary Stuffed Dragon Boss. (Either that or he is one of those rare spell casters who actually SPEAKS the words to the spell?) You can see that Sprout has picked up some blues to help the Epic Baby Crew plunge ahead in their dungeon adventures.

Once again, it has been my very special pleasure to write this squee inducing post on the Epic Baby Crew. These last few months I have seen pictures posted and have fallen in love with Orv, Fannon, Ceraphus, Lathere, and Angelya’s adorable offspring. Doing the video post was exciting and it stretched my creativity to try to put in mere words the cuteness of these babies. Thanks again to the parents whose arms I have twisted to get the videos from. The Internet has taken even more squee damage. And to you, the readers who have pestered me and asked over and over when this was going to be posted, thanks for the patience and thanks for being fans of this blog. We will revisit them each later as they turn the big One so all you can have an update. :) Check out the Epic Baby Crew and their parent’s blog on our blogroll in their own special section to tide you over til then. (That...and well they do write other interesting stuff than just on the babies!)Nymphyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03797541203329264799noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3438520024263354776.post-69050170646245733062011-09-10T16:42:00.000-04:002011-09-10T16:42:33.172-04:00Our Search Terms Have Made Us Into the Steamiest Blog on the Net Nymphy is an arcane mage for Eff the Ineffable. Recently she discovered that people mistake this blog for information on quite a few different things...Oh my...

Orv is a protection paladin for Eff the Ineffable. When he isn’t busy trying to find a boss that will drop an epic tank helm (seriously...7 months of raiding...1 tank helm dropped. ONCE.) he’s wondering how some of you found your way over here.

D/E the Tank is a WoW-centric blog that provides a humorous slant on Orv’s and Nymphy’s adventures in the World of Warcraft. At least that is what WE thought it was. Turns out it is a site for quite a DIFFERENT thing. We have turned out to be the steamiest blog on the net. What with all the floor loving and maybe relationships with certain NPC’s. With that in mind...maybe it doesn’t surprise us as much to see some of the emerging terms that people use to find us and this blog.

We do get some search terms dealing with prot pallying and trees and all sorts of silly nonsense thanks to Orv’s supr srs posts when Nymphy was away for a week. We KNEW that was going to happen but we chalked it up to the fact that Nymphy *markets* her best post. Yes, you readers know which one we are talking about. Yup, #EpicBabyPost. Orv just leaves his readers to try and search for his tank related seriousness.

The top search term other than the reasonable D/E the Tank is “and take advantage of”. Er...Of what? Or who? We know that Nymphy takes advantage of the floor. Just walks ALL over it. It is how she rolls, how she does. Orv takes shameless advantage of Nymphy’s infrequent absences to try to post supr srs posts but that is all we can think of.
The next couple takes us back to our very first post on playing World of Warcraft as a couple. It is the only supr srs post that Nymphy will take credit for and is something both her and Orv have had to deal with. People have found us quite often with “playing wow as a couple” and it makes us feel warm fuzzies inside to be helpful. But to search for us using “couples doing it in stands”?? (Orv says: We’ve never done it in the stands, maybe they meant in the sands? We’ve done it in the sands a lot. In Uldum... Tanaris... Sithilus... Blasted Lands...Thousand Needles.... What’s that? ...You mean they’re not talking about questing? Then what.... Ohhhh! You perverts!)

“Don’t know random dungeons to tank” Uh....neither do we! That is why they call them random! And there is even a nifty Looking For Dungeon tool to help you! What do you mean you didn’t know that the creepy green eye was for that? Well..now you do. Enjoy!

“dothetank.blogspot.com” (NOT an actual site...do not clicky link you nasty person, you) On the other hand...Yes indeed we DO do the tank! Or rather Nymphy does. ;) But that sort of information is personal and you’ll not find the likes of THOSE adventures on here....go find your wank fodder elsewhere! We are sure they make lovely fanfic involving your choice of Onyxia and Nefarion.

Nymphy and Orv are glad to be back. They missed all of their marvelous readers this past month and look forward to many more laughs, groans, and maybe even the occasional super serious tank post!
Or: Nymphy Comes Home to WAY too much Srsness.Nymphy is an arcane mage who had to take a break from the internets for a week to deal with the Real Life Boss and comes back to find her funny and witty blog that she writes with Orv completely and utterly ruined by, not one, but two (two!) srs posts.

See?! This is what happens when I leave. You, the reader, expect to find some humorous content to read in your spare time. Perhaps something to give you a chance to chuckle or smile in your busy day. Instead what did you find this week? Yeah, I hear you. Two srs posts by Orv. I apologize right now if he made you fall asleep. I mean, omgwtfbbq?, who wants to hear about pally talent trees? I lol’d at the names of their talents. All I could see is more of the same ego boosting abilities that I have to listen to Orv go on and on about every night. He tries to explain their importance to me but all I hear is that Peanuts teacher’s voice going blah blah blah I am so great blah blah blah. Orv! Get some real talents that read like mine! How about a little Torment(ing) the Weak or Incanter’s Absorption? Yeah, yeah, Blessing of Kings is great and all that, but you can find that buff a dime a dozen. How about feeling important when everyone is like “Ooh Nymphy! I want Focus Magic” and immediately starts parading their crit numbers in front of you? Yeah that’s right. We don’t need no prissy talents like Pursuit of Justice. You think Internet Dragons care about your pursuit of justice? Nope! Not a bit. They do care when they are on the receiving end of my Improved Arcane Missiles and Arcane Blasts.

In all seriousness (in the midst of all the tanking is srs business posts) I hope that people got a lot out of the tanking posts. Orv is a super amazing tank (shh! don’t tell him! God I can feel his ego swell from over here!) and knows his stuff. He tanks for me both in game and out and saves my squishy self time after time, so I can vouch for his knowledge of things tankadin. And I fully support overthrowing Team Heals’ tyranny. But not officially, you understand. I mean they keep me alive in raids so if I were to out and out support this venture I would see my floor time increase dramatically followed by suspicious claims that I broke Line of Sight. While standing in the middle of an open field. So never fear readers, your laughs are incoming... as soon as I clean up the mess Orv left around here!Nymphyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03797541203329264799noreply@blogger.com0
